Geech Camp - Chenek Camp

16.11. Wake-up at 6 a.m. Me and Tom did shower at close stream. Around was frost on a grass. Track was winding through Lobelias toward viewpoint Imet Gogo 3926m.

Imet Gogo is a rocky jag with fantastic view around. To have best views is necessary to be there at sunrise. The views were nice (a little bit hazy) but more fascinating were Lobelias.

They are really big. As reference I used our Ahmed with his rifle...

We're descending alongside the cliff edge. On one place we stopped watching Ibex (chamois/capricorn like animal) across the rock edge 600-700m down under. There was also few stage waterfall. I found that cliff is pendent and we're "on air" few metres from the cliffs' wall. Not nice feeling...

We entered "Lobelia valley". This part of Simien is especially nice and "untouched" with thousands of giant Lobelias and high grass not cutted by the sheep/goat herds. I dont know if there is any other place on earth with so big concentration of this nice plants.

We climbed up through thin forest to the opposite hill and than alongside cliff edge to Inatye 4070m.

Just few metres before summit at 4000m we met group of 100 Gelada baboons !!

Successful conquer of the mountain was celebrated by plum brandy and erecting of Czech flag. For Tom and Dan it was first 4000m high mountain. The weather is O.K., mostly sunny. The "abbys" on a left is filled with clouds. Again copying edge of the cliff which is now sharp as "razor". We were surprised by the interesting nature phenomenon - Halo - double rainbow around our own shadows projected on the surface of the clouds in abbys. Jesus, it was very interesting ....

At 3:30 p.m. came to Chennek camp with fabulous views of the simien "rocky mountains" in every direction. In camp was few backpackers: Roger from Sweden, Linda and Phil from U.K. and Klaus from Germany.
